PROGRAMS
PreDance
PreDance is an introduction to movement concept offered to students
3-4 years of age. Through movment activites students work on developing
coordination, rhythm, balance and musicality. This class is a basic
introduction to dance technique and terminology.
KinderDance
KinderDance is an introductory dance class offered for students 4-6
years of age. This class teaches coordination, body awareness, and musicality
in a creative and fun environment. Students are introduced to a ballet
and jazz syllabus. Furthermore they get to participate in structured
activities that promote creativity and movement.
Ballet
Ballet is the foundation of many other dance forms. This class is designed
to improve strength, balance, technique and grace. Students learn ballet
terminology and technique. Ballet, the classical form of dancing, teaches
poise, body awareness, flexibility, muscle tone and alignment.
Jazz
Jazz is a form of modern dance. This high energy class improves cardiovascular
and muscular endurance, flexibility, control and coordination. Students
learn techniques which will help aid them in their performance to popular
music. In addition, styles covered in class may be contemporary lyrical,
Broadway, or street jazz (hip hop).
Hip
Hop
Hip Hop is a stylized version of jazz dancing, whereby free style is
combined with street jazz. Dancers are required to take skills learnt
in ballet or jazz class and apply a "street" style to it.
This is a high energy class with an emphasis on performance and personality.
Offered to students 10 years of age and older.
Lyrical
Lyrical
is the form of modern dance in which the dancer's movement is a reflection
or expression of the lyrical content of a piece of music. Lyrical dance
has a high emphasis on expressing of complex emotion using ballet and
jazz technique.
Musical Theatre
Musical theatre is a modern dance class based on musical performance.
This class combines acting, singing and dancing. This class encourages
the dancer to develop stage presence and a character while dancing.
Afro-Caribbean
Afro-Caribbean is a cultural dance form derived from a fusion of African
and caribbean movements to rhythmical and uptempo music such as soca
and chutney and reggae. This class contains traditional and contemporary
movements with a focus on dance alignment, coordination, conditioning
and musicality.
